Artist Crush.

It's no secret we have a big old artist crush on Miss Kelli Murray.  We've been collecting her work for years and still love it as much as the first time we laid eyes on it (and we love to give it as gifts!).  So a few weeks ago when we heard she was having a show in our neighborhood, we showed up with bells on.

Not only was her work as pretty as always (and we walked away with some purchases!) but we also loved the way she styled the whole show-- her paintings were mounted on old barn wood, yarn and antlers adorned the walls, and she had t-shirts hanging on branches.  Love!  If you aren't familiar with her work, head to her site immediately.  And if you're looking for more eye candy be sure to check out her adorable wedding here.

Glammed Out.

Remember how we were holding our breath to see the photos Joielala took of adorable Kelli Murray?  Well, now we can breathe again, the pictures are up on Style Me Pretty today and we are dying over them.  Seriously, that red lipstick and those feathers = perfection.  Kelli and her hubby are just too cute for words.

Joielala.

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting San Diego girls, Taryn & Shelby, of Joielala Photography.  We had a blast discussing all things San Diego and weddings and if you aren't familiar with them you should head on over to their blog to see their work.   They have lots of yummy boudoir goodness with a vintage feeling that makes hearts go pitter patter.  Beautiful!  We are holding our breath for the images they just shot of our friend and favorite artist, Kelli Murray!

Wedding Night Bliss.

Not all that long ago, Miss Myka tied the knot.  And while the barn was pretty dreamy, the local accommodations didn't really scream wedding night romance.  Or modern.  Or white.  We were in the middle of Carmel Valley with a handful of very country options.

So my most creative friend and I dreamt up a little wedding night surprise.  We wanted Myka & G to feel like they were spending the night someplace special.  While I was setting up for the wedding and M & G were shooting their first look, Farra snuck into their room and created a wedding night suite.  She stripped the bed of it's country quilt and added plush white bedding that had traveled from San Diego.  The wreath above the bed was replaced with a Kelli Murray print.  She hung cans we had spray painted white and adorned with words about the couple above the bed.  We framed their initials and a small version of the painting Kelli Murray created for Myka and placed them on bedside tables.  Chardonnay and beer were put on ice, cookies placed in jars, her favorite candles and flowers set around the room.  When they left in the afternoon the room was a little bit grandma, with traces of hurried wedding prep scattered all over the room- makeup, empty glasses, extra clothes.  That night, after all the partying and celebrating with friends and family, M & G walked into a calm, cozy oasis filled with personal touches celebrating their union.  Thanks, Farra!

Pretty Painting.

I squealed, I cried, I couldn't stop smiling...when I saw this amazing painting set-up at our reception.  You got a glimpse of the sketch here, and this is the final product.  Tori & A gave us this amazing wedding gift, a painting by the lovely Kelli Murray.  I can't even put into words how special this gift is to G & I.  It perfectly captures our wedding day: it reflects our wedding invitation "Vows in the Valley", my cotton based bouquet, my giant flower headband, and my cute groom.  It is perfect.

xo, Myka
